Crystal Palace Friendlies Announced

Crystal Palace will play several friendlies at home and abroad in preparation for this year's Championship season.

On 7-11 Palace will play Stevenage Borough, after which they will head to the US to play matches against the L.A. Galaxy and Crystal Palace USA.

Peter Taylor's men will return to England to play at Swindon Town, before hosting Portuguese club Boavista on July 26.

July 29 is the final tune-up, a match against Millwall. It's odd, but I can't find Millwall on Palace's regular season schedule this year. Hmm. Must be a typo.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Some Player News for Our 300th Post

Crystal Palace centre-back Fitz Hall is set to move to Wigan for 3 mil. pounds.

Palace make 750k pound offer for Hull centre-back Leon Cort. Cort used to play at Millwall, but I guess he's alright.

Finaly, looks like Palace will listen to offers for Hungarian international goal keeper Gabor Kiraly after he requested to leave Selhurst Park. Bob Dowie said there hasn't been much interest so far.

Question: Who in the hell is going to replace Andy Johnson? Second question: Is Sven wishing he'd taken AJ to Germany?

Speaking of Germany, be sure at get your World Cup news and views from World Cup Blog.

Crystal Palace Fixture List

The 2006-2007 fixture lists have been released. Palace open away to Ipswich on Agust 5th, with the first match at Selhurst Park on August 8 against Southend.

Bob Dowie Not Surprised by Kaviedes

Bob Dowie says he's not surprised by striker Ivan Kaviedes' impressive run for Ecuador at this year's World Cup.

Kaviedes, known as El Nine in Ecuador, was at Palace for six months during the club's recent stay in the Premiership. Unable to find a steady role at Selhurst Park, Kaviedes left during the next transfer window.

But Dowie says: "We knew what he could do, it was just the wrong year for him year. We were fighting relegation and did not have room for a shiny number 10."

Right, no room for quality. Gotcha.

Anyway, don't forget to get your World Cup news and views at World Cup Blog.

New Crystal Palace boss Peter Taylor is saying all of the right things, most notably that he sees Palace winning promotion next Spring.

Cross your fingers, Eagles fans.

Peter Taylor Named Crystal Palace Manager

Peter Taylor, Hull City boss and former Palace player, was today unveiled as the new man in charge at Selhurst Park. This after Taylor turned down the job at Charlton, which was of course filled by former Eagle coach Iain Dowie.

Small world.

2006 World Cup: Four Days In

Eleven games down in this 2006 World Cup, with tons more football to go. England are in prime position to win Group B, where, if things fall as expected (but when do they?), the Three Lions may face Ecuador in the second round.

Don't forget to catch all of your World Cup news and opnion at World Cup Blog.

Souness Turns Down Palace

Graeme Souness has taken his name out of the Crystal Palace manager derby. Whether that's good or bad news is a decision left to the reader. (Hint: good.)

All this stuff is so tedious. Just let us know when Peter Taylor or whomever gets the job. The real problem: who the hell is going to score goals next year?

Zaccheroni Denies Palace Contact

Italian coach Alberto Zaccheroni denies that he's had any contact with Crystal Palace about the club's open managerial position.

Okay, Maybe it's Not Bruce Arena

Instead, Crystal Palace may be taking aim at Alberto Zaccheroni to fill the manager spot left open by Iain Dowie's departure to Charlton. Zaccheroni has coached at AC Milan and Internazionale, so clearly this would be a big step up for the Italian.

Ahem.

New Palace Manager to Be a Massive Broad

Or rather, one of the candidates is a massive name from abroad. Whatever.

Let me be the first to make up, I mean report, the rumor that it's Bruce Arena. Arena is currently the head coach of the US men's national team. Would that qualify as massive? I guess not. But it could be a great experiment.

AJ: No Regrets Despite Massive...Regrets

Former Crystal Palace and current Everton striker Andy Johnson says his stay at Selhurst Park this last season cost him a spot in England's World Cup roster. Johnson, who is an alternate on the England squad bound for Germany, believes that if Palace had not been relegated--and to be fair, the team were relegated only by a last-minute miracle--he'd have scored fewer goals, but would have been a Lion for sure.

He also adds that he has no regrets that he was in fact with Palace in the Championship last season. Right. Because who cares if they represent their country in the World Cup?

Actually, AJ may be right, and either way, I salute him for his time at Selhurst Park. He is a Glazier legend, after all.

Not Suprisingly, McDonald Out at Selhurst Park

To no one's shock, assistant Crystal Palace coach Neil McDonald has left the club in the wake of Iain Dowie's exit as manager.

Lawyer: Crystal Palace Could Be Up the Creek

This lawyer says that Palace may be out of luck in its suit against former manager Iain Dowie.
