ManYoo Drama Continues

Okay. So last night, the Glazer boys were at Old Trafford to speak with the staff. Unfortunately for them, so were thousands of disgruntled Red Devils supprters, some of whom were chanting "Die, Glazer, Die!". That seems a bit much. Although I sorta kinda smiled at the :Mancs But No Yanks" signs.

Anyway, it seems that the Glazerati have now met with Sir Bobby Charlton, who apparently was somewhat assuaged by whatever it was they had to say to him. Surely Sir Bobby's word will carry some weight with many fans.

I suspect that if the Glazers will, after all, spend a few pounds for transfers, much of the criticism will be (temporarily) muted.

USA 1-3 Italy (U-20s)

The USA have been eliminated by Italy in the World Youth Championships being held in the Netherlands.

A good first half for the Yanks was wasted as they fell apart in the second frame. Still, a pretty good overall showing from the squad in this tournament.

Update on the AJ Rumours

Simon Jordan is pissed.

Update the Second: AJ speaks out.

Update the Last: I guess now that Andy Johnson is known as AJ in the national press...may mean that his days as an Eagle are numbered.

AJ to Leave Palace?

Despite recent denials of a transfer from Simon Jordan, it appears that Andrew Johnson is requesting to leave Crystal Palace for the Premiership. Some preliminary notes here.

Apparently, AJ fears that his spot on the England team for Germany 2006 requires that he stay in the EPL. That may well be true.

This speculation comes on the heels of Wayne Routledge's official move back to an EPL side last week.

USA 0-0 Germany (U-20s)

The USA and Germany have tied nil-nil in their Group D match in the World Youth (U-20) Championships in the Netherlands. The USA dominated the game for the most part, but missed some good chances. It's true that the refs missed a penalty call around the 39th minute, but... whatever.

Overall, AbCrack was impressed witht the part of the match shown on American TV. Read about it here.

USA 3-0 Panama

The United States took a big step towards qualifying for Germany 2006 this week with a 3-0 victory at Panama.

As expected, it looks as if the US and Mexico will represent CONCACAF at next year's World Cup. If so, that'll be five straight times for the US to qualify for the Copa (1990, 1994, 1998, 2002 and, hopefully, 2006).

(Some Euro powers, such as Spain and France, are still in danger of not qualifying, btw.)

Routledge Scores for England U-20s

(At-least-a current) Eagle Wayne Routledge scored for the England U-20 squad in a 2-0 win over Tunisia. Routledge is expected to transfer to Tottenham sonne enough. Meh.

England Mini-Tour in US

England have completed a two-game jaunt to the United States, where they played the US in Chicago and Columbia in New Jersey.

England defeated the US 2-1 in the first match. Clint Dempsey's lone goal for the Yanks was not enough to overrcome a brace from newcomer Kieran Richardson.

England also defeated Columbia, this time 3-2, thanks to a hat-trick from Real Madrid striker Michael Owen. Mickey's goals were enough for England to survive Columbian goals from Yespes and Ramirez.

All three teams will continue with their World Cup 2006 qualifying matches.
