Palace Relegated

Well, it's been several days now, but AbCrack just couldn't muster the energy to post until now. Crystal Palace drew 2-2 with Charlton last Sunday, the final day of the EPL season, which means that WBA stay up while Palace, Southampton and Norwich City head down.

Palace were a mere eight minutes from securing a place in next season's Premiership. Then, Charlton equalised, and it's West Brom that are staying up.

Additionally, relegation has cast doubts on the club's ability to hang on to gaffer Dowie and striker Andy Johnson. AJ is now an England man, and not too many England internationals play in the First Division. Oy.

Palace fans need hope for a massive dose of bouncebackability.

ManYoo Takeover

AbCrack hasn't touched on the Malcolm Glazer / Manchester United takeover bid. But lately, his stake in the club has grown again, and the takeover seems quite likely. Most ManYoo supporters are still against Glazer running the club. For an analysis of their fears, see here.

Crystal Palace 2-2 Southampton -- Ugh.

Crushing disappointment when Palace lost the chance at three points as the Saints equalised in extra time. Palace are not yet assured of the drop, but they will need some help to secure a place in the EPL for 2005-06.

Up next: away to Charlton Athletic.

Liverpool 1-0 Chelsea

Liverpool have upset Chelsea 1-0 (1-0 on aggregate) on the semi-finals of the Champions League. This was a massive game for English football, and the Reds certainly deserve their impressive accomplishment.

Liverpool will play the winner of the PSV/AC Milan semi-final, to be decided tomorrow.

N.B.: Yes, Liverpool lost to Palace a couple of weeks ago. No, AbCrack can't explain it either.
