USMNT Updates

The United States men's national team has had mixed results in its two most recent World Cup qualifiers. On Sunday, the U.S. fell 1-2 to Mexico at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico, D.F. The U.S. has certainly had the better of Mexico in recent years, including in the 2002 World Cup in Korea/Japan, but their string of futility at the Azteca continues.

On Wednesday, the U.S. bounced back with a 2-0 defeat of Guatemala in Birmingham, Alabama. When all is said and done, it's still likely that the U.S. and Mexico will repersent CONCACAF at Germany 2006.

Chelsea 4-1 Crystal Palace

A tough go for Palace at the Bridge this past Saturday, with Aki netting the lone Eagles' goal.

The loss puts Palace at 18th place in the table, and thus in the drop zone. The rest of the way will be a real dogfight between the bottom 5 or 6 clubs.

Crystal Palace 0-0 Manchester United

An impressive point for Palace against ManYoo last weekend, with the Selhurst side playing nealry half of the match with ten men.

Next up for palace: Chelsea. Chelski defeated Barcelona yesterday in the Champions league to win the round on aggregate. A bit of a controversial late goal by John Terry notwithstanding, an impressive win for the Blues. The highlight of the match, however, was Ronaldhino's second goal of the match. Incredible.

Update: Heh. Read this take from the Homesdale Online.
